Summer 2021
Fall Rebuilding Day! Volunteers Welcome!
I hope you’re all enjoying a bit of normalcy - whatever that means to you. It’s been quite a ride over the last year-and-a-half. We had to pivot to engaging only contractors to do most of the repairs. Our neighbors were isolated and often we were the only interaction they had with the outside world. We helped sign seniors up for meals to be delivered and answered questions about where to get a vaccine.
We not only repaired roofs, but we also reconnected our neighbors with the rest of the world.
We hired Scott as our construction manager to coordinate contractor repairs, do repairs himself, and shepherd volunteers - of all skill levels - in providing critical home modifications.
It’s been a busy summer so far and we’re looking at several communities to focus our Fall Rebuilding Day activities on September 25, 2021. We are excited to again welcome individuals and teams from our corporate and community partners to help homeowners live in safe and healthy homes.
Our Fall Rebuilding Day will help highlight the critical role that safe housing plays in supporting our community's health and vitality as we recover from the pandemic. Many of our neighbors in need were hit hard by the loss of jobs and social isolation, and they are looking forward to welcoming our volunteers into their homes.
Would you like to be one of those volunteers?!? Construction not your “thing”? No worries, we have other opportunities for you to assist our neighbors… think meal preparation, serving on a committee, or being an ambassador for Rebuilding Together Kent County. Just sign up online or call us at 410.708.9936 and we’ll get you plugged in!
